International Women’s Day

Hannah and Emily went to ‘Women in LEGO’ virtual event and here is an overview of what happened. This event was organised by the Vice Chair of Northern Brickworks, Amanda, because their membership wanted something specifically for women and why not do it for International Women’s day. The first organised speaker was Jessica Farrell, of LEGO Masters fame, speaking about how she first got into LEGO. As a 7-year-old girl she loved playing with LEGO…

AFOL Day – August 8th 2020

The ever so helpful LEGO store staff opened the shop for AFOLs only from 8.30 to 9.30 and they were more than happy to aid us in our purchases. It was great to get our hands on some soon-to-retire sets and catch up with our Cardiff based members. One of us definitely got the last Tree House set, 21318. Purchases also included some of the new ART collection, Monkey Kid, Mario, the NES and of…

LEGOLAND After Hours…

A couple of lucky luggers were given access to LEGOLAND Billund after it had closed this weekend. While it was nothing like ‘Night at the Musem’ it did make for some eerie and interesting experiences. A stationary carousel with human sized LEGO models glistening in the moonlight, casting dancing shadows on the wet floor – creepy! We turned a corner to see a giant brick built LEGO spider with glowing green eyes – scary! The…

My First Time at STEAM

At the beginning of October I was able to go and visit STEAM for the first time. I have been trying to go for the past few years but things always got in the way. Well, finally, my time had come. I made the early morning walk to the train station and caught the train to Swindon. There I met up with GertLUG member Hannah and we ventured on to the STEAM Museum. Once we…
