October 2020 Virtual Meet Up

October’s virtual GertLUG meeting was a busy one. It didn’t feel like we were all chatting for over 100 minutes. We had members join us from Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Clevedon, Nailsea, Portishead, Leeds and Malaysia, as well as people who were on holiday in either the Lake or Peak District (PK gets confused between both of them). With our growing community we had new members join us for the evening. The evening started off with…

Collaborative Builds Page Update

It has long been overdue, however we have now updated the Collaborative Builds section of the GertLUG website. Each collab that is featured will now have it’s own page containing information, photos and possibly even videos depending on what is made available for us to use. The individual collaborations will still be listed under the Collaborative Build heading, but as more are added to the website, this adjustment will make them easier to organise and…

September 2020 Virtual Meet Up

As restrictions due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to prevent physical meet ups, so too continue our virtual monthly meet ups. While waiting for people to join the meeting, those that were already there had a general chat about any LEGO related topics that came to mind. These included the latest Harry Potter Collectable Minifigures and recently released Diagon Alley set as well as the Super Mario sets. When the meet up officially began, we…

August 2020 Virtual Meet Up

As with our previous virtual meet up, we began with a quick introduction game to get to know a bit more about everyone, including our favourite colour LEGO bricks. Once that was done, the first challenge of the evening was a spring build challenge, constructing a tower of 2 x 6 plates in a spiral pattern to create a basic LEGO spring. While people were building their springs, we had a general chat, which resulted…

AFOL Day – August 8th 2020

The ever so helpful LEGO store staff opened the shop for AFOLs only from 8.30 to 9.30 and they were more than happy to aid us in our purchases. It was great to get our hands on some soon-to-retire sets and catch up with our Cardiff based members. One of us definitely got the last Tree House set, 21318. Purchases also included some of the new ART collection, Monkey Kid, Mario, the NES and of…

‘Blindfolded 1×1 Inverted Tower Build Challenge’ – we know it’s catchy right!

This month’s online meet up was hosted by the GertLUG secretary, James and was filled with LEGO fun! Since our recent granting of RLUG status we have had an influx of new members. Naturally it was a perfect time to introduce ourselves. We had members from all over the country and the world attending. One of the best parts of the GertLUG community is that we’re all very different but we all love LEGO! Some…
