GertLUG go to LEGOLAND!

GertLUG LEGOLAND Windsor Trip - 17th June 2023

Another year and another annual trip to LEGOLAND Windsor with our amazing GertLUG LEGO group. This year was a couple of months earlier than last year and yet we still had a hot sunny day to enjoy the wonders of the LEGOLAND theme park.

It was a great turn out of our GertLUG members, most with family and friends in tow, to explore and participate in the many rides around the park.

After everyone had arrived on time for our customary group photo in front of the LEGOLAND Windsor sign and entrance it was then time to get everyone signed in with our one massive ticket, a rush through the gates to gain entrance and then the fun begins! A chance for all the adults become kids again.....if only for a day.

We had created our own photo scavenger hunt to participate in and complete around the park with a list of 10 photos to achieve during the day. The park this year had many different themes, attractions and all kinds of entertainment to explore and experience although sadly the FERRARI build and race experience was closed for maintenance on the day. However, the chance to view and explore the full size Ferrari Daytona SP3 made entirely out of LEGO, well everything except for the genuine steering wheel and alloys. Consisting of over 400,000 (402,836 to be exact) LEGO bricks it looked even better than the real car!

Another new entertainment element was the interactive Pirate show in the Heartland City where the audience can play their part the in pantomime and ward off the evil Pirate baddie from getting the Gem Stone and controlling all of the Pirates for his evil scheme.

While exploring I bumped into fellow Gert LUGGERS on their own adventures, mainly on a mission to collect as many pop badges as possible, and even saw our very own Ambassador finding and obtaining the King pop badge and becoming the King of LEGOLAND for the day. Others were just trying to go on as many rides as possible like going upside down and scared out of their skins in the haunted house or coping with the stomach jerker on the fire and ice ride. Then there were some of the kids obtaining their full LEGOLAND driving license whilst others were cooling of in the water park. There was a lot of thrill and enjoyment all wrapped up in one whole day.

To cap the day off there was a visit to the LEGOLAND shop by the entrance/exit to create your very own personal Minifigure and purchase some much needed LEGO sets and merchandise to add to your collection for future displays at the various shows and events this year.

I'm looking forward to another trip next year when hopefully the sunny sunshine will join us again for another fantastic LEGOLAND adventure!
